Support the Padma Karpo Translation Committee

Padma Karpo Translation Committee was established over twenty years ago by Lama Tony Duff for the purpose of making key Tibetan texts available, especially to practitioners.  Tony has been a full-time Tibetan Buddhist for most of his life and has been a student of the greatest of Tibetan masters.  He was the first Tibetan Buddhist monk ordained in Australia where he and several others founded Chenrezig Institute, giving him complete training in the Gelug tradition.  Then he stayed in the USA as a student of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche for twelve years, giving him complete training in the Kagyu tradition.  For the last twenty-five years he has been closely involved with the Dzogchen teachings of the Nyingma tradition and has done several extensive Dzogchen retreats in Tibet.  You can see Lama Tony above, with one of his yogi friends, during a long Dzogchen retreat in Tibet.

With all of that training, Tony has become renowned for his exceptional fluency in Tibetan and deep knowledge of Tibetan Buddhist traditions.  Under Tony's guidance, PKTC has translated and published many key texts needed by Tibetan Buddhist practitioners, with an emphasis on Mahamudra and Dzogchen materials.  At the moment, PKTC is working on translating and publishing major collections of Nyingma literature.  Last year , we published two major works with the assistance of donations we received here: the Lion’s Roar of Ultimate Buddha Nature by Mipham, and the Guhyagarbha Tantra’s Chapter on Views with commentaries by Longchenpa, Padmasambhava, and Mipham.  (Padmasambhava’s commentary is the very famous: Foremost Instructions, A Garland of Views.)  You can see all of the books we have published on our catalogue page.

Our grand project, which we have been working on for the last two years is the Dzogchen Resting Up Trilogy by Longchen Rabjam.  We are continuing to work on that and expect to complete it around the end of 2017.   The Trilogy is not a set of three books, rather it is a set of three explanations that encompasses a total of fifteen texts.  It is an amazing exposition that covers every single detail of ground, path, and fruition of the Great Completion or Dzogchen dharma.  The final publication in English will be in several books, with a total of over 2000 pages.  We especially need your help to finish and publish this massive and amazing work.  Though your donation will in general enable Padma Karpo Translation Committee to continue to provide practitioners and others with high quality translations of important works of Tibetan Buddhist literature.

Your donation will go towards paying the salaries of two full-time Western translators and a secretary.  It will also go towards the general running costs of the committee such as our office in Nepal and so on.  If sufficient donations are received, the funds will go towards adding more free offerings in addition to the ones that we already provide.  Please give so that we can continue!
